Ohio’s new energy law requires utilities to invest in efficiency and renewables – creating jobs, protecting public health, and cleaning our air. However, Duke wants to be let off the hook for its efficiency responsibilities and has proposed to build an expensive new nuclear plant instead. Stronger action against antibiotic abuse in food animal production is needed
Although the overuse of antibiotics in agriculture is widely known, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is still allowing the prevention of disease to be included in the definition as a therapeutic use of antibiotics.Ask them to take stronger action to control the widespread use of antibiotics in food animal production.
Protect our Water by Stopping Mosquito Spraying in Lake County, OH
Lake County General Health District sprays toxic chemicals for mosquito and West Nile Virus control throughout the community annually. However, there are only 2 human cases reported in the past 5 years. Meanwhile the expensive toxic chemicals are killing benefitial insects and fish. Urge your county officials to explore alternative ways like rain garden to control mosquitos and stop spraying hazardous chemicals into our environment.
Speak Out Against Duke’s Nuke at the PUCO!

The PUCO is holding a public hearing on the new Duke Energy proposed nuclear plant. Instead of following Ohio’s new energy law efficiency standards, Duke has proposed building a new nuclear plant. On top of that, they currently do not have any scheduled public hearings in their own service territory! That’s why it is important to make your voices heard in Columbus on Monday September 13, 2010 at 10am. The public hearing will be held in Hearing Room 11-C in Columbus at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). Please come out and let’s stand up to Duke’s Nuke!
